CUMNOCK ILLUSTRATED ALphabet

An illustrated ABC, devised by co-operative organisation People’s Parish to gather local stories and encourage participation in community life.

The project celebrates the Scottish town of Cumnock through its buildings, monuments and industries, all chosen by residents. The area has a rich history of coal mining, ironwork and ceramics, and is now home to the UK’s largest manufacturer of fire-fighting vehicles. Famous residents include founder of the Labour Party, Keir Hardie.

Drawn in ink layered with watercolour and applied to posters and merchandise.
